Multimedia Resources

In 1556, St. Ignatius Loyola first purchased a printing press for the Society of Jesus in Rome.  Ever since, Jesuits have viewed communications as central to our ministry of proclaiming the Gospel and participating in the larger social dialogue on key questions of our time.

Good sources for books about Jesuits and Ignatian spirituality include Ignatius Press, Loyola Press, and The Institute of Jesuit Spirituality.  Also see our recommended reading list of books by and about Jesuits.

Film

The following titles are available in DVD or VHS:

Black Robe. An idealistic young Jesuit goes to 17th century Canada where he is sent on a canoe expedition into the wilderness to convert the hostile Huron Indians.

The Mission. Having gathered the Indians of Paraguay into prosperous mission settlements, 17th century Jesuits struggle to protect them from the violent depredations of European colonists.

Loyola Productions offers a wide selection of film and music.
