Jesuits Profess First Vows

Five Jesuits of the Maryland, New England and New York Provinces pronounced First Vows in the Society of Jesus on August, 13. Fathers provincial James Shea, Myles Sheehan, and David Ciancimio celebrated the liturgy at Holy Cross Church in New York. First vows were pronounced by James Ferus, SJ; Christopher Grodecki, SJ; Andrew Otto, SJ, Marco Rodriquez, SJ, and Adam Rosinski SJ.

The occasion marked the conclusion of two years of formation as novices that included a 30-day retreat experience of the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius, apostolic experiments in a variety of Jesuit ministries, and study of the history and Constitutions of the Society. The perpetual vows of poverty, chastity and obedience are a commitment of their lives to serve God, the Church and those to whom they are missioned for the greater glory of God.
