Documentary about Cheverus’ food drive results in donation to local food bank
A story on the donation of 38,000 lbs of chicken by Tyson Foods to the Good Shepherd Food Depository in Auburn, Maine will air on Ch 6, Portland, Maine tonight. The donation was made possible by Cheverus teacher Lorriane Aromando's documentary about the Thanksgiving Food Drive sponsored by the Cheverus High School Key Club. The documentary was one of the top five documentaries submitted by high schools in the US to the Tyson Hunger Relief Food Bank Spotlight Short Film Competition to win an award for their local food banks. A freezer trailer truck from Arkansas arrived in Auburn recently to deliver the chicken. Tom Trainor of Tyson Foods is a University of Scranton grad who truly values his Jesuit education; he assured Cheverus that Tyson is available to help out on next year's Thanksgiving Food Drive. Read story. Watch video.
