The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) has designated January 13 to 19 as National Vocations Awareness Week. Started in 1976, this annual week-long celebration of the Catholic Church in the United States is dedicated to promote vocations to the priesthood, diaconate and consecrated life through prayer and education, and to renew our prayers and support for those who are considering one of these particular vocations. The New England Province of Jesuits offers this prayer for Jesuit vocations.
Gracious God, Source of Holiness, we praise and bless you for the Jesuits who have been canonized saints and raised to blessed. By their powerful intercession and the anointing of the Spirit, raise up generous men today to heed the call of Jesus Christ who announced to all “Follow me.”
Give to the Society of Jesus men who are on fire for Christ and desire in all things to love and to serve. We make this prayer in union with Mary, Mother of the Society of Jesus, and through Christ our Lord.
